Moodle 3.2: Change Forum View Options

Applies to: 3.2

There are several options for displaying posts in a Forum. Anyone enrolled in a course can change their own Forum view, and this does not affect any other users.

  • By default, Forum posts are displayed in nested form: all posts are listed on the same page with replies indented below.
  • By default, Forum+ posts (in Moodle 3.2) are displayed in a list.

Changing the way a Forum displays

  1. Go to the course homepage.
  2. Click the link to a Forum.
  3. Click a Discussion.
  4. From the Display menu near the top of the window choose one of the following:
    • Display replies in nested form €“ Shows all posts on the same page with replies displayed and indented.
    • Display replies flat, with oldest first €“ Shows all posts with oldest first; does not indent replies to forum posts.
    • Display replies flat, with newest first €“ Shows all posts with newest; does not indent replies to forum posts.
    • Display replies in threaded form €“ Shows posts indented but displays links to replies.

Note: This setting is global and will change the view for all Forums in the site.

Viewing Forum+ Posts in a Different Form

  2. Click the link to a Forum+ forum.
