Description
All media uploaded via the Drupal interface is stored in your site's files. Because of this, you can easily reuse images and other media on many pages. There are two useful benefits: (1) it reduces the amount of space your site uses on the servers, and (2) if you need to update a piece of media (for example: a professor wants to update their profile picture), you only need to update the file and every use is updated.
Instructions
To reuse an image:
- Place your cursor in the rich text field where you want to place the image
- Select the Add Media button on the editing toolbar
- Select the UMN Library tab
- Note: this is your site's library, not the entire University
- Note: the tab may be named UMN My Files
- Locate the image you want to use. Utilize the filters at the top to limit the items in the list
- Select Submit
- Choose a Display Size
- Note: The alt text was added to the image when it was originally uploaded. If you change the alt text, it will be changed for all instances of the image
- Select Submit
After embedding an image, if you want to edit the display size settings, select the image placeholder and then select the Add Media button to return to step 6.
