Drupal Enterprise 7: Get a Copy of your Site's Database and Files from OIT and Import them into Dev Desktop

You can install your website's Drupal database and files locally for developing.  The following instructions are for websites using the default UMN Drupal Enterprise 7 (DE7) configuration.

Obtaining your Drupal site's database

Download a copy of your site's existing database from Drupal Management.

 In Acquia Dev Desktop, drop the current tables and import the zipped file

  1. Launch Acquia Dev Desktop.
  2. Click the local database link.
  3. Click docroot in the phpMyAdmin sidebar.
  4. Scroll to the bottom and click the Check All box.
  5. >In the With Selected dropdown selector, choose Drop.
  6. Confirm that you wish to drop the selected tables.
    • Note: only 250 tables can be dropped each time. Continue selecting tables and dropping them until none remain

Import the new database

  1. Launch Acquia Dev Desktop.
  2. Click the local database link.
  3. In phpMyAdmin, click the Import button at the top of the interface.
  4. >Navigate to the file that contains your new database.

Disable the Drupal Modules that aren't needed when running locally

  1. Return to Acquia Dev Desktop.
  2. Open the Drush Console.
  3. Run the command:
    • drush dis -y securepages umn_single_site_alert acquia_connector acquia_purge acquia_agent simplesamlphp_auth umn_user expire

Log in to your local Drupal site

  1. Return to Acquia Dev Desktop.
  2. Open the Drush Console:
    • Run the command
    • drush uli
  3. Copy everything after http://default
  4. Open your local site.
  5. Paste the text from step three to the end of the URL.

Troubleshooting problems with importing the database

If you get the "white screen of death", you will need to rebuild the registry to resolve.

  1. In Acquia Dev Desktop, open the Drush Console.
  2. Run these two commands in order:
    • drush dl registry_rebuild
    • drush rr

If you're unable to log in to the site after importing the database, clear all caches.

  1. In Acquia Dev Desktop, open the Drush Console.
  2. Run this command:
    • drush cc all

 To get your site's files

  1. Send email to [email protected].
  2. Place all files locally in umnstandard/docroot/sites/default/files (replacing any duplicates).
