Drupal: Navigating the Media Browser

The Media Browser allows you to reuse existing media on your website, upload new media, or embed media from an external website. The Media Browser appears wherever you can add media to a page.

You can click the Insert from Media Library button in the formatting toolbar to open the Media Browser.

There are seven tabs available in the Media Browser for different types of media: Image, Audio file, Document, Instagram, Remote video, Tweet, and Video file.

Image

The Image tab allows you to upload new images, or browse images already uploaded to your site.

  • Select the image you would like to add.

    • Use the Select files option to upload an image file to your Drupal site from your local machine.

    • Search for images already uploaded to your site using the Name field, or Sort by drop down menu.
  • Click the image to select it.
  • Click Insert Selected to add the image.

Audio file

The Audio file tab allows you to upload new audio files, or browse audio already uploaded to your site.

  • Select the audio file you would like to add.

    • Use the Select files option to upload an audio file to your Drupal site from your local machine.

    • Search for audio already uploaded to your site using the Name field, or Sort by drop down menu.

  • Click the audio file to select it.
  • Click Insert Selected to add the audio.

Document

The Document tab allows you to upload new documents, or browse documents already uploaded to your site.

  • Select the document you would like to add.

    • Use the Select files option to upload a document to your Drupal site from your local machine.

    • Search for documents already uploaded to your site using the Name field, or Sort by drop down menu.
  • Click the document to select it.
  • Click Insert Selected to add the document.

Instagram

The Instagram tab allows you to upload content from Instagram.

  • Select the Instagram content you would like to add.

    • Use the Add Instagram via URL field to add the URL of the Instagram content you'd like to add.

    • Search for Instagram content already added to your site using the Name field, or Sort by drop down menu.
      • Click the content to select it.
  • Click Insert Selected to add the document.

Remote video

The Remote video tab allows you to add videos from YouTube or Vimeo, or browse videos already uploaded to your site.

  • Select the video you would like to add.

    • Use the Add Remote Video via URL field to add the URL of the YouTube or Vimeo video you'd like to add.

    • Search for videos already added to your site using the Name field, or Sort by drop down menu.
      • Click the video to select it.
  • Click Insert Selected to add the document.

Tweet

The Tweet tab allows you to add Twitter content, or browse tweets already uploaded to your site.

  • Select the Twitter content you would like to add.

    • Use the Add Tweet via URL field to add the URL of the Twitter content you'd like to add.

    • Search for Twitter content already added to your site using the Name field, or Sort by drop down menu.
      • Click the Tweet to select it.
  • Click Insert Selected to add the document.

Video file

The Video file tab allows you to upload new videos, or browse videos already uploaded to your site.

  • Select the video you would like to add.

    • Use the Select files option to upload a video file to your Drupal site from your local machine.

    • Search for videos already uploaded to your site using the Name field, or Sort by drop down menu.
  • Click the video to select it.
  • Click Insert Selected to add the video.
