Downloads and Guides: Install IPSec Native VPN for Mac

The VPN implementation provided with MAC OS X Snow Leopard and newer is based upon BSD IPsec. It does not provide for UDP or TCP encapsulation, so it will have limited success in a NAT (UofM Wireless or Home SOHO NAT) environment.

The following steps will walk you through connecting to UofM VPN natively with Snow Leopard, El Capitan, and Sierra.

Note: users with University owned devices can install the preferred Cisco AnyConnect via the Software Center.

Contact Technology Help for assistance following these instructions.
