Communicator: Conference a Call

This article details how to conference two or more calls in the Clearspan Communicator application used for Voice Over IP (VOIP) phones.

Note: VoIP callers should be aware of certain restrictions to 911 calls. Visit z.umn.edu/voip911 for more information

  1. While on a call, click the Conference Call/Add Person button .

  2. Dial the number you would like to conference and click Call.

  3. To conference the two numbers click the Merge button .

  4. When the calls are conferenced together, the call will now display like this.

  5. Repeat steps 1-5 above to add additional lines to your conference.

IMPORTANT: You are the 'call owner.' If you end the call when using Conference Call, then the call is ended for everyone. However, if one of the lines that you conferenced hangs up, the conference will continue for all others.
