Screencast-O-Matic (Pilot)

Screen and webcam recording software being piloted at the University of Minnesota through June 2018.

Screencast-O-Matic is a software download that records screen activity and/or webcam. You can record a PowerPoint or Google Slides presentation, or demonstrate a tool directly from your computer. When you’re finished, you can publish the video on your YouTube channel, in a textbox using Kaltura within Moodle or Canvas, in Google Drive, or on another video publishing site.

Pilot Process and Feedback

Screencast-O-Matic is in pilot through June 2018 to determine whether it should be added to the portfolio of tools offered by Video & Conferencing Services.

To give feedback complete this survey.

Who Has Access

During the pilot phase, all faculty, staff, and students (except those who have suppressed their information from the public directory) have access.

Caution: Screencast-O-Matic Sees All!

While recording your screen, the entire contents of the recording area will be recorded. Use caution not to show and record FERPA protected, or HIPAA/Protected Health Information (PHI) data.
