News from NGN: Weekly WiFi Roundup
WiFi access point upgrades have been completed successfully on the University of Minnesota Twin Cities St. Paul campus and NGN teams have moved to the West Bank campus to continue the WiFi upgrade work. In the last week, the following buildings have been upgraded:
- University Enterprise Laboratory
- Minnesota Tech Center
- Supercomputer Center
- West Bank Office Building
- West Bank Office Ramp
- Mondale Hall
- Twenty First Avenue Ramp
- Parking Lot C-86
- Parking Lot C-94
- Andersen Library
- Hanson Hall
- Barker Center for Dance
- Regis Center for Art - West
- Regis Center for Art - East
- Rarig Center
- Wilson Library
- Social Sciences Building
University WiFi service is currently stable and users are reporting speed increases and better connection times. For the best WiFi experience, students, faculty, and staff should connect to eduroam.
Work is ongoing for the Next Generation Network (NGN) project and WiFi access point upgrades are continuing on the University of Minnesota Twin Cities campus from May through August 2017.
This is the first phase of the University's Next Generation Network project. This work will impact every WiFi access point (AP) in buildings and structures system-wide. Service disruption is expected to be minimal.
