What's new with NGN

Wired network upgrades have been completed successfully in the following St. Paul campus locations:

  • St Paul Heating Plant
  • Facilities Management
  • Peters Hall
  • Metering Station
  • Vet Isolation
  • Food Science
  • Green Hall
  • Equine Center
  • Kaufert Lab
  • Hodson Hall
  • Skok Hall
  • Ecology
  • Large Animal Holding
  • Kuom Transmitter Building
  • Robbie Stadium
  • Alderman Hall
  • Gortner Labs

WiFi and wired network service is stable and performing well on the new equipment. Work is ongoing for the Next Generation Network (NGN) project and wired network upgrades are continuing on all University of Minnesota campuses and remote locations through 2020.

The upgrade work will occur building-by-building, and while work is underway, WiFi and wired network services to the building will be intermittently unavailable. An outage period will depend on the amount of equipment to replace and upgrade. Learn more and view the upgrade schedule at it.umn.edu/ngn-schedule. Please note that the schedule is subject to change.
