The University is heading in the direction of looking at our culture, making sure we reject complacency, and looking at the grand challenges we face in society... What can we, as IT staff, do to help support research and curriculum in these spaces?

In a recent town hall meeting for University IT staff, Vice President and Chief Information Officer Scott Studham highlighted the need to stay focused on operational excellence in the year ahead. The meeting, attended by hundreds of UMN IT staff from all system campuses, included a brief overview of the state of the University and a look at specific IT priorities for the fiscal year.

Studham also focused on ways in which IT can support the recently completed Twin Cities strategic plan, saying: "The University is heading in the direction of looking at our culture, making sure we reject complacency, and looking at the grand challenges we face in society... What can we, as IT staff, do to help support research and curriculum in these spaces?"

Additional topics included the Board of Regents' focus on affordability, accessibility and diversity, the introduction of three new formal communities of practice (fCoPs), an overview of the expanded leadership team, and success of the Upgrade.
