New Online Meeting Formal Community of Practice (FCoP) Begins
Based on University-wide feedback gathered from the Office of Information Technology (OIT), they found that users across the community are facing challenges successfully facilitating and attending meetings online. In response, it was determined that their latest FCoP will address the subject by better understanding these challenges, and proposing steps the University can take to improve the meeting experience.
As part of this FCoP, the community will focus on a variety of topics that are critical in ensuring the success of online meetings. These topics include making sure the right technologies, software, and meeting spaces are available, delivering the resources and support to help people use the technology effectively, and empowering all users to take steps to create a consistent and useful online experience.
Based on the gathered feedback, and input from the community in the initial kick-off session (attended by more than 100 community members), the leads have established affinity groups that will work together to define, validate, document, and present recommendations that can be implemented to improve the consistency and overall online meeting experience. They include:
- Best Practices and Etiquette
- Support by Staff
- Standards and Design
- Support of TeleHealth
These affinity groups will help focus the efforts of the FCoP, and those interested in participating should attend the next FCoP meeting on May 3 at 1-3:00 p.m. held entirely online.
