Internet Password to be used for all Google services
Starting July 7, 2015, a separate Google Desktop/Mobile Client Password will no longer be required to authenticate to Google services.
In order to streamline access to University Google Apps, users no longer will need to use a separate Google Desktop/Mobile Client password to access University Google Apps from a mobile device or email client such as Thunderbird, Outlook or Apple Mail. The change goes into effect beginning Tuesday, July 7, and applies only to University Google accounts.
If you currently use Google services outside of a web browser (e.g., smart phones, email clients, or Chromebooks), no immediate action is needed. When your University Internet Password expires, you will be required to use your Internet Password in place of the Google Password.
If you would like to voluntarily stop using your Google Password before your University Internet Password expires, visit the MyAccount page and select “Always Use My Internet Password for Google.”
