UMN WiFi Certificates to be Updated

NGN What's New

New WiFi security certificates will be implemented on the morning of February 27, 2019 for the University of Minnesota network system-wide.

WiFi security certificates serve multiple purposes. They validate that the user is connecting to the correct organization security. They also encrypt the connection between the user’s devices and the server or host end. The WiFi SSL or security certificates enable the University’s WiFi connections to be as secure as possible, and University networking and security teams work to make sure all certificates are updated in a timely and responsible manner.

Impact to users should be very minimal. Some users may be prompted to accept the new certificate on their WiFi-connected device. Please be assured that the new certificates are legitimate and can be accepted. If you have any questions, please contact Technology Help at, [email protected], or 612-301-4357.
