Tarek Tomes introduces an exciting new Gig opportunity
Vice President and Chief Information Officer Tarek Tomes is introducing a new gig focused on modernizing legacy administrative systems through a method called "vibe coding."
This Gig seeks a "system orchestrator" to build a unified web application for professional activity reporting using natural language prompts rather than traditional programming. The AI-assisted or "vibe coding" approach allows employees with various technical backgrounds to design, test, and deploy software by directing generative AI tools to handle the underlying code. The project serves as a safe experimental environment to evaluate how emerging technology can address technical debt and streamline workforce productivity.
Ultimately, the goal is to foster first-person expertise in AI engineering and product management while exploring the limits of automated software development.Through the University’s Employee Development Center's Gig program, IT professionals from any unit or college are invited to apply for a unique, short-term project exploring the possibilities of AI-enabled development.
