On August 8, 2018, the Next Generation Network (NGN) core cutover was completed on the University of Minnesota Crookston (UMC) campus. The upgrade work of replacing core equipment and migrating from old to new was a significant undertaking. The core upgrade in Crookston increases the flexibility and redundancy of the wired network.

“The core cutover at Crookston went very well. We experienced some short-term outages, but nothing major or unexpected. I would credit the success of the cutover to the pre-planning, execution, and collaboration between the teams in Crookston and the Twin Cities. Another great example of our system partnership in support of the new network,” said Jeff Sperling, Director of Technology Support Services at UMC.

Core cutovers and related NGN upgrades will also happen during fall 2018 in Duluth and Morris. If you have any questions, please contact the NGN team at [email protected].
