New in Google Workspace! Set and Share Personal Pronouns

Starting Tuesday, September 24, 2024, you can opt to set personal pronouns for your University Google Workspace account. If you choose to share pronouns, they’ll appear when someone views your contact info or hovers over your profile picture in Gmail, Calendar, Drive, or other Google applications. Pronouns also appear next to your picture in Google Meet. Keep reading to learn how to set and share pronouns.

Note: This is an optional setting that you may choose to use. By default, no pronouns will be set for your account.

How to Set Personal Pronouns

Select pronouns from the provided list: she/her, he/him, they/them, No pronouns set, or Add custom pronouns. You can also Choose who can see your pronouns: Only you, Your organization, or Anyone.

To set personal pronouns:

  1. Go to your Google Account page
  2. Select Personal info
  3. Select Pronouns
  4. Adjust your settings, including who can see your pronouns

Who Can See Your Pronouns?

Personal pronouns will only appear if you choose to set and display them. By default, no pronouns will be set for your account. If you do set pronouns, they will appear to only you unless you adjust your settings. Review and adjust who can see your pronouns.
