New Health Sciences Technology Help Space Opens January 13, 2025

Providing Timely In-Person IT Support for Faculty and Staff

The University of Minnesota is pleased to announce the opening of a new Health Sciences Technology Help space on Monday, January 13, 2025. Located in the Mayo Building, Room A-295, this dedicated support hub will provide faculty and staff in the Health Sciences with convenient, in-person IT assistance.

This new space offers a range of services, including:

  • Resetting account passwords
  • Enabling Box accounts and addressing other account-related needs
  • Facilitating laptop drop-offs and pickups for repairs
  • Accepting devices for recycling
  • Providing temporary admin access
  • Offering initial laptop troubleshooting
  • Creating tickets for follow-ups on desktop and immovable device issues

Open Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m., the Health Sciences Technology Help space is located along the Gopher Way, just northeast of the main Mayo elevators. This prime location ensures easy access for faculty and staff working on-site.

According to Anita Stiles, Executive Assistant to the Department of Anesthesiology:

"I am thoroughly impressed with how IT has consistently addressed our department's technical needs. They truly listened and responded with care to our needs. With the addition of the new onsite Health Sciences User Support space, they’ve created a more responsive, personalized experience for users at all levels. Having somewhere to go and get "onsite" and "in the moment" assistance, should bring faster solutions, enhanced efficiency, and a smoother technology journey—catering to everyone, regardless of their technical expertise."

For those seeking general IT support, three additional in-person support spaces are available on the Twin Cities campus: in Saint Paul, Coffman Memorial Union, and Blegen Hall.

This new initiative underscores our commitment to providing timely and effective support for the Health Sciences community. We look forward to seeing you at the new space!
