All current University students, staff and faculty are eligible for Netfiles accounts.
Former faculty and staff retain their access for three weeks after leaving the University.
After graduation, student NetFiles account will remain active for one full semester, plus summer sessions, after the last term in which you were registered. For example, if your last term was fall 2016, your NetFiles account will be deactivated if you do not register for fall 2017.
As of July 5, 2015, new faculty, staff and students will not be given storage space in a Netfiles personal directory. New students will be able to store files in other directories to which they have access. Students who have files in their personal directories will retain access to their files, but are advised to move them to a replacement service.
If you do not have a storage allocation in Netfiles, please use the following replacement services:
Google Drive is the recommended replacement for Netfiles for most accounts.
Box is the recommended replacement for Netfiles for secure files (e.g. content that contains PHI or other restricted data).
If you are not able to use Google Drive or Box, please contact Technology Help at (612) 301-4357 or firstname.lastname@example.org to confirm your use case and request that your storage space be restored.
If someone returns to the University within one year of a Netfiles account being removed, he or she can contact email@example.com to regain access to archived files.
