When you create an Attendance activity, you can change the words used for marking attendance (Present, Absent, etc.), as well as the points students receive for each option.
WARNING: Do not change categories or grading options after you have started tracking students’ attendance. Attendance data may be lost.
Setting attendance categories and grading options
Go to the course homepage.
Find the attendance activity and click its link.
Click the Settings tab. The My Variable page appears.
Change the attendance variables (Present, Absent, etc.) as needed:
Change a variable: Change the Acronym, Description, and/or Points (Grade in older versions) for any variable, then scroll down and click Update.
Remove a variable: Click the Delete icon to the right of the option. Confirm by clicking Continue.
Add a variable: Type an Acronym, Description, and Grade in the final empty row and click Add.
Note: If you create a new line, click the Add button before making changes to existing lines. If you change existing lines, click the Update button before adding a new line. If you don't click the Add/Update button, other changes will be lost.
When you are finished adding/changing, click the Update button to save the changes.
