Moodle 3.0, 3.2: Understand when Emails are sent from Discussion Forums
Applies to: Moodle 2.8, 3.0, 3.2
Students and instructors can receive email notifications when a post is made to a Forum in Moodle. There can be a small or a significant delay on when these emails are sent, depending on both student preferences and how a post is made.
All Forum posts have a 15-minute window to allow for editing.
Usually it takes 15 minutes for a message to be ready for sending via email to those who are subscribed to the Forum.
If you want to make a message ready to be sent by email right away, check the Post Immediately checkbox towards the bottom of the new Forum post.
Once a Forum post is ready to be sent via email, it will go to the mailing queue which runs at the end of every hour. The actual sending time may vary slightly.
Individual students and instructors can choose how often they receive emails from Moodle.
You can choose to receive an email:
Every time a post is made.
Once per day after 5 pm, listing all the posts that day.
