Moodle 3.0, 3.2: File Types that Can Be Submitted to an Assignment
Applies to: Moodle 2.8, 3.0, 3.2
Any type of digital file can be submitted with an assignment, including PDF, Word, PowerPoint, Excel, etc.
However, an instructor or teaching assistant might not have the appropriate software to open the file.
Students should be instructed to only submit file types that instructors and teaching assistants are able to open. Assignment instructions should include information such as “Submit your paper as a Word document or PDF file.”
Students will not see a Submit button if the File submission option is not selected for the assignment.
Students will not be able to upload files larger than the maximum file size setting - 20 MB in Moodle 2.8, 3.0, 3.2.
Video files and other large files should not be uploaded to Moodle. They should be stored in an accessible storage area such as YouTube or Google Drive and the student should submit a link to the video.
