Moodle 3.0, 3.2: Add a YouTube Video to a Text Box
Applies to: Moodle 2.8, 3.0, 3.2.
Instructors and designers can add YouTube videos to any text box in Moodle, including:
Descriptions for Assignments or Quizzes
Students can also add videos to text boxes in Forums and Assignments that allow online text submission.
Adding a video to a text box
In most Moodle course sites, this link will display as the actual video in the forum post.
Note: If a YouTube link is not displaying as an actual video, have the course instructor or designer Turn on the Multimedia Plugin Filter.
Copy the link for the YouTube video first.
Go to the text box where you want your video to appear.
Paste the YouTube link.
Scroll down and click Post to forum.
Embedding a video into a text box
Instructors and TAs can embed YouTube videos so that they play directly in a Moodle Forum. Some other video services, such as Vimeo, also have this ability. Students are not able to use this method to embed videos into forum posts.
