Moodle 3.0, 3.2: Add an HTML Block with a Small Graphic

The HTML block can be used for information the instructor feels is special or pertinent to the class for an entire semester. Many instructors use it for a personal picture of themselves and some biographical information. The image can be jpg, png or gif; width should be limited to about 170 pixels to avoid a scroll-bar.
Adding an HTML block with a graphic
Go to the course homepage and click Turn editing on. The "Add a block" block will appear at the bottom of the left column.
Select HTML.The HTML block will be added to the bottom of other blocks.
Click the Action menu in upper right of the new HTML block.
Select Configure (new HTML block) block.
Enter a Block title.
Click the Image button in the Content box.
Click Browse repositories…
Click Choose File.
Select your image file and click Open.
Click Upload this file.
Add alternative text for the image for accessibility in screen readers:
Enter alternative text in the Describe this image for someone who cannot see it box
Note: Alternative text should replicate in words what the image is communicating.
