The Moodle User Profile area is where you can add a picture of yourself, and choose the default subscription method of for class forums.
Having a picture of yourself in your profile helps personalize your Moodle activities that use the profile picture, and can be very helpful to both instructors and students. Pictures can be jpg or png and will be automatically resized 100 x 100 pixels. It is not possible to resize your image once uploaded to Moodle.
Editing your Moodle user profile
In the Moodle My Home page (this link will take you to Moodle 2.8 homepage), go to the Administration block and expand the My Profile Settings section. Then select Edit Profile.
Review the settings and make any changes. In general, the default selections are optimal. See the commonly used settings after this guide for further information.
Note: Do NOT change your UMN email address, as you will then be unable to log into Moodle or access your courses.
Add a brief description of yourself in the Description box.
To add a picture in the User picture section:
click the Add... button
Locate your picture, then click Upload this file.
You can also drag and drop your picture into the Upload section to upload it it.
Optional: Add a list of interests separated by commas.
Click Update Profile to save any changes.
