Academic Technology Consultant
My career at the University of Minnesota began in 2001 when I joined the staff of the College of Human Ecology as an instructional designer. In 2006, I joined Academic Technology Support Services and focused largely on faculty consultations in the areas of course management systems, multimedia, audio and video. Recently I have become more involved in business processes and the management of projects. For larger projects I facilitate and coordinate the work, both inside and outside of our unit, needed to get projects done.
My educational background is in music and education. I received my Doctor of Musical Arts from the University of Minnesota in Bass Trombone Performance with a secondary area in music education in 2010. For my final project I investigated the efficacy of using web conferencing technology for online instrumental master classes and other recruiting and outreach techniques used by collegiate instrumental music faculty.
I believe my five years of experience working in a college have been a great attribute in my current position. This experience helps me understand how needs often differ from a collegiate perspective, as opposed to a central perspective.
