Starting February 1, 2018, when videos are uploaded to Kaltura in Moodle and Canvas, they are automatically captioned by the Cielo24 service. This is done through the use of automatic speech recognition (ASR), which scans the audio track for spoken English. When your captions are ready you should receive a confirmation email. (Note: If you have uploaded several videos you should still only receive one email, it will list multiple file names.)
ASR captions should be considered drafts as they are about 80% accurate and do not meet disability accommodation requirements. You are not otherwise required to ensure the accuracy of the ASR captions, but if you are using plan to reuse video content in the future it is a good idea to start thinking about it.
