Internet Accounts & Passwords: Guests and Visitors
There are two main types of Internet accounts available to individuals not affiliated with the University of Minnesota: Guest accounts and myU Portal Guest accounts.
Creating an Account
Individuals not directly affiliated with the University can create guest accounts to use some online tools, except for the myU Portal.
To create an account, complete the Guest Accounts form.
Accessing the Account
After you submit one of these forms, you will receive a confirmation on your screen, plus an email message with information about your account.
If you cannot access the account your created, follow these troubleshooting steps:
- Verify that you are using your full, correct email address as your Internet ID.
- Make sure your email provider is not blocking email from the umn.edu domain.
- Make sure the email address you entered is still current. We periodically send an automated message to verify your email address, and if it bounces, we deactivate your guest account.
