Interim Senior Director for Academic Technology and Service Owner
About My Work
What I Do
I started working in academic technology at the University of Minnesota in 2001 as an instructional designer for the College of Human Ecology. In 2006 I began working in academic technology for the group that would become Academic Technology Support Services. I enjoy working at the intersection of pedagogy and technology and assisting instructors with the effective use of technology in their courses.
My educational background is in music and education. I received my Doctor of Musical Arts from the University of Minnesota in Bass Trombone Performance with a secondary area in music education in 2010. For my final project I investigated the efficacy of using web conferencing technology for online instrumental master classes and other recruiting and outreach techniques used by collegiate instrumental music faculty.
I believe my five years of experience working in a college have been a great attribute in my current position. This experience helps me understand how needs often differ from a collegiate perspective, as opposed to a central perspective.
