Emerging Technologies

Emerging technologies create new opportunities to evolve our academic technology environment and academic practice. Academic technologists facilitate the exploration of new and emerging technologies with faculty and staff in order to understand the value of emerging technologies, highlight areas of innovation at the University and externally, and provide evidence-based recommendations for advancing select technologies to enterprise-level delivery.

Our services include:

  • Piloting of emerging technologies with faculty and staff partners
  • Reviewing and managing the academic technology Hype Cycle, a University of Minnesota tool for creating and sharing community-sourced information about technology in higher education.
  • Aggregating and disseminating evidence-based recommendations for advancing select technologies both for more widespread use as well as possible enterprise-level delivery
  • Disseminating results of academic technology innovations
