Protecting your personal information from identity theft with Duo Two-Factor Protection (Authentication) helps you by asking for two things that verify your identity:
something you know - your password,
and something you have - your mobile phone, tablet, or a landline phone you can access easily.
Duo hardware tokens are small fobs that can be used as the something you have, to generate one-time passcodes for Duo access at sign-in.
Each Duo hardware token is tied to one user (can be more than one user in specific situations) and the passcodes generated by that token can only be used by that user.
Because there is a cost to the University for each token, we recommend not requesting a token unless you have a business need (for example, you work in an area that has limited cell coverage AND you are unable to use the Duo Mobile App on a mobile device).
