Drupal: Embed a Video Using the Media Module (YouTube and Vimeo)
In the University's standard Drupal installation, videos can be embedded in rich text fields. Use the Add Media tool on the editing toolbar to embed videos from either YouTube or Vimeo.
Note: Video files are listed in the allowed file types for uploading to Drupal. You should not upload movies directly to Drupal. Always upload your videos to a streaming media service like YouTube or Vimeo.
To embed a video into a rich text field
Place your cursor in the rich text field where you wish to insert the video
Click the Add Media button on the toolbar
Click the WEB tab
Paste the video’s URL or embed code in the field
Choose the display size
After embedding a video, if you want to edit the display size settings, select the video placeholder and click the Add Media button to return to step 6.
Note 1: Entering an embed code in step 4 will override the chosen display size in step 6, and the video will be sized according to the embed code settings. Note 2: There’s no good rule of thumb for display size in step 6. It’s probably best to choose the default display size, save your changes and preview the content. Note 3: After submitting in step 7, only the freeze frame will be displayed in the text field. To see the actual movie, you will need to save the content and view the webpage.
