Database Hosting: Request Service for Oracle Database Hosting
When an OIT Administrative Computing Services team, or possibly some other OIT Services team, has a requirement for a new database to meet a business need, an email should be sent to email@example.com if there is no OIT DBA member already included within the Services team. The OIT DBA manager will contact the OIT Services manager to discuss assignment of DBA staff resources to the Services team.
If a University department has an interest in using the Oracle Database Hosting Service for Departmental applications, an email should be sent to firstname.lastname@example.org. Please review the Oracle Database Hosting Features to see a summary of what is provided for departmental applications.
Within the email, please include the following:
Name of primary departmental contact person
Name of ‘sponsoring’ departmental head or authority
Brief description of application(s) to be hosted
Indicate if application(s) are currently running in other database(s)
A member of the Oracle Database Hosting Services team will respond to the initial request to gather further information and/or arrange a meeting. Before implementation into the Exadata ‘hotel’ databases can commence, the following information needs to be determined.
Name(s) of departmental schema account(s)
UMN Internet Ids of departmental staff who will be need access to schemas
which SDLC ‘test’ stacks will be required (dev, tst, ent)
an estimate of storage space that might be used
application backup requirements beyond standard provided
some discussion about OIT DBA assistance that might be required
