The Oracle database hosting service is defined as a common good service for all University database customers. A designated individual from each department or application team will register for the service and later coordinate all service and support requests through OIT. Provisioning of the Oracle service is standardized where each department will receive the same performance, capacity, and support, as outlined in subsequent sections. Furthermore, security standards will be enforced on all databases pursuant to University policies.
Database services will be allocated in the form of a SDLC (System Development Life Cycle) “stack.” A standard stack consists of one for development, one for code and bug testing, one for integration⁄staging⁄performance testing, one for production, and one for production disaster recovery.
