Canvas: Install Respondus 4.0 (Quiz Builder)

The Respondus 4.0 Campus-wide application is used to publish quizzes in your Canvas course.

Installing Respondus 4.0

1. Send an email to [email protected] requesting student access to the Respondus Quiz Tool Information site on Canvas. The support team will enroll you and send you a reply email to grant you access to the install file (.exe).

2. When you access the Respondus site, locate the Respondus 4.0.8.05 Installer file (.exe) link, and Save it to your desktop. You may minimize the Respondus Quiz Tool Information site for now.
   
3. Install the file you downloaded.            
   1. Locate the file Respondus4Campus­_4.0.8.05.exe on your hard drive and double-click it to start the Respondus installation program.
      (If you receive an installation error message,  right-click on the .exe file and choose "Run as administrator."  You'll be asked to enter an admin username and password for your computer.)
      
   2. The InstallShield Wizard will launch. Select the desired language; choose Next.
      
   3. The main application page will open. Choose Next.
      
   4. Select I accept and then select Next on the Software License Agreement screen.
      
   5. On the Choose Destination Folder window, we recommend you select the default location on the C:\Programs Files. Choose Next.
      
   6. On the Projects Folder Location window, you may want to write down (or at least note) where your Respondus files are being installed.  Example: c:\Program Files (x86)\RespondusCampus40
      Then select Next.
      (If you would like to create a different folder for your Respondus projects, select the Browse button and then specify where you want them saved.)
      
   7. Select Install to start the installation process.
      
   8. The installer will prompt a Question window to ask whether you want to install the Equation Editor.  We recommend you select No as Canvas has its own equation editor in its quiz questions.
      
   9. In the Setup Complete window, select Finish.
      
      
   10. After the installation completes, return to your desktop or Start menu to open Respondus.
       • The first time you launch the Respondus Campus-wide application, you will be asked to enter the name of the institution, the local support contact, and the installation password. The information must be entered EXACTLY as listed on the homepage of the Respondus Quiz Tool Information site on Canvas. When you are done entering the information, select the License button.

5. Decide whether you want to subscribe to the Respondus newsletter.
6. If this is the first-time installation of Respondus on the machine, the Choose CMS Personality window may open for you.
   Choose the Canvas option, then select OK.
