Technology Selection Guidelines
Helping you choose technologies with confidence.
The Office of Information Technology works with the distributed IT service organization and the Technology Advisory Council to provide technology acquisition guidelines and assistance to University of Minnesota faculty and staff members who are evaluating technologies their units are considering buying, using, or developing.
Our goal is to ensure that use of the technologies is aligned with the University's needs and technical environment throughout the technology's lifecycle, from the time it is under consideration to its retirement.
If you are exploring the use, purchase, or development of a technology solution at the University of Minnesota, you can complete the Get Advice form to request a Technology Advisory Council consultation.
Foundational standards are the Documentation Standards for Information Security Documents.
Visit the University of Minnesota's Purchasing Services website to learn more about the purchasing process.
