12-Button (ITE12) Telephone Guide: Optional Program Feature Buttons

This article discusses how to program the feature buttons on a 12-button (ITE12) telephone.

Display (DSPL)

Display Abbreviated Dial Numbers

  1. Press DSPL.
  2. Press ABVD.
  3. Repeat pressing ABVD until all stored numbers have been displayed.

Display Auto Dial Numbers

  1. Press AUTO DIAL.
  2. The number to be auto dialed displays.

Display Callback Number

  1. Press DSPL (lamp on).
  2. Press CLBK.
  3. Repeat pressing CLBK until through list.

Hold (HOLD)

Place Call on Hold

  1. With the call on line, press Hold.
  2. Hang up and another call may be placed.

Retrieve Held Call

  1. Press SPKR or lift handset
  2. Press HoldThe call is retrieved

Answer Call Waiting Using Hold and SPKR

  1. When you hear the call waiting tone, press Hold.
  2. Press SPKR. The incoming call is on the line.
  3. Press SPKR. The call will end and the phone will ring.
  4. Press SPKR. The holding call is on the line.

Answer Call Waiting Using Hold and Handset

  1. When you hear the call waiting tone, press Hold.
  2. Press Hold.
  3. Press the Line Button. The incoming call is on the line.
  4. Press the Line Button. The call will end and the phone will ring.
  5. Press the Line Button. The holding call is on the line.

Transfer (XFER)

Transfer on Campus

  1. When the call is on line, press XFER (lamp on).
  2. When you hear the dial tone, dial the 5-digit phone number.
  3. Hang up.

Transfer Off Campus

  1. With the call on line, press XFER (lamp on).
  2. When you hear the dial tone:
    • University Customers:
      • Dial [8] + area code + phone number.
    • Fairview Customers:
      • Dial [9] + area code + phone number.
  3. Hang up.

Cancel a Transfer

  • On a busy or unanswered line, press XFER. The original call is on line.

3-Way Conference

  1. Begin with the 1st call on line and press XFER (lamp on).
  2. Dial the phone number.
  3. When the party answers/announce conference, press XFER (lamp on). All 3 parties will be on line (lamp on).

Abbreviated Dial (ABVD)

Store or change a number (up to 24 digits long)

  1. Press SPKR or lift handset.
  2. Press ABVD [*].
  3. ENTER code ([9]-[0]). Hear 1 beep.
    • University Customers:
      • [8] + area code + number
    • Fairview Customers:
      • [9] + area code + number
  4. Hear 2 beeps.
  5. Hang up.
  6. Write # on abbreviated dial list.

Make Call Using Abbreviated Dial

  1. Press SPKR or lift handset.
  2. Press ABVD + abbreviated dial code.

Display Abbreviated Dial Numbers

  1. Press DSPL (lamp on).
  2. Press ABVD.
  3. Repeat pressing ABVD until through list.

Call Park (CLPK)

Call park is a system hold, retrievable from an alternate phone.

Park a Call

  1. With the call on line, press CLPK.
  2. When you hear "Park number___________," write down the number.
  3. Hang up.

Retrieve Parked Call

  1. Press SPKR or lift handset.
  2. Dial "Park number." The system retrieves the held call.

Call Pickup (CLPU)

Call Pickup is used to answer a call which is ringing on another phone. Call Pickup may be assigned to one phone, or a group of phones.

  1. When the line in the pickup group rings, press CLPU.
  2. Dial the ringing phone number. Call is transferred to your line.

Forward (CFWD)

Forward Your Calls

  1. Press SPKR or lift handset.
  2. Press CFWD.
  3. When you hear the confirmation tone, dial the destination number.
  4. When you hear the confirmation tone (lamp on), hang up.

Display Forwarding Number

  1. Press DSPL (lamp on).
  2. Press CFWD. The forwarding number displays.

Cancel Call Forwarding

  1. Press SPKR or lift handset.
  2. Press CFWD (lamp off).
  3. Hang up.

Note: Off campus call forwarding feature must be ordered.

Voicemail (VCML) System

Entering Voicemail Stytem

  • University Customers
    1. Press SPKR or lift handset.
    2.  Press VCML (lamp on). The voicemail will prompt
  • Fairview Customers
    1. Press SPKR or lift handset. 
    2. Dial assigned Fairview voicemail number. The voicemail will prompt

Important: University phones with voicemail light indication features do not work with the Fairview voicemail system. They do not light when voicemail is present.
