Programs for precollege students
The Institute of Technology sponsors several programs in science and technology
for K-12 students. These opportunities include outreach programs
to area elementary and secondary schools, summer camps, and
special classroom-based programs. Some programs are specifically
for girls or minority students, but most are co-ed.
Institute of Technology Center for Educational
Programs (ITCEP)
ITCEP sponsors programs for K-12, undergraduate, and graduate students in the
areas of mathematics, science, and engineering. ITCEP's popular K-12 enrichment
programs, offered during the academic year and summer, are designed to keep
young students interested in science, math, and engineering.
Exploring Careers in Engineering and Science (ECSE)
A ITCEP summer workshop for high school women
July 10–14, 2006
The Institute of Technology is seeking a talented, enthusiastic, and culturally diverse group of 20-25 high school women to work with small groups of University scientists, engineers, and students as well as peers from across the metro area who have similar interests in engineering and physical science.
Interested students who will be entering 10th, 11th, or 12th grade in fall 2006 are invited to apply for this opportunity. Participants will engage in demonstrations, lectures, tours, and lab experiences that will make engineering, science, and math come alive as viable careers. Campus tours with Institute of Technology students, panel discussions and informal lunches with career advisors and faculty, and presentations by college staff will help participants experience campus life, learn more about academic programs, and explore potential careers.
The workshop is offered by ITCEP.

Institute of Technology departments
The college's departments recognize the value of outreach programs
and welcome the opportunity to serve younger students. Programs
and activities offered by IT departments and centers vary. Some
activities are structured and scheduled; others are more informal
and available upon request.
Society of Women Engineers
The Society of Women Engineers (SWE) offers outreach programs designed specifically
for girls in grade school and high school who are interested in science and
engineering. Each year SWE hosts Technically Speaking, an on-campus event for
high school girls.
Science Centrum
Science Centrum offers programs and resources for K-12 science teachers.
