University Honors Program

Beginning in fall 2008, the University Honors Program (UHP) will welcome its inaugural class. UHP provides highly qualified and motivated students with a rigorous and enhanced learning experience that crosses academic boundaries, connecting students’ chosen fields of study with other disciplines. Honors students are part of a stimulating and supportive community of like minded peers from diverse backgrounds and areas of interest.

UHP provides Honors experiences that include an enriched and intellectually exciting curriculum of Honors foundational courses and Honors seminars, taught by outstanding professors. Honors courses cover material at a broader and deeper level than regular courses so that students may delve deeply into the intellectual traditions of their major fields early in their academic careers.  Included among the Honors foundational courses are Honors chemistry, math, and physics that fulfill IT major requirements.

Admission to UHP is competitive. All outstanding applicants to the University of Minnesota-Twin Cities who are well prepared to excel in their intended area of study are considered for Honors. Visit the University Honors Program for more information.

All collegiate Honors programs are united under the University Honors Program as of fall 2008. Students admitted into the IT Honors Program before fall 2008 will become members of the University Honors Program in fall 2008; however, they will continue to follow the Honors requirements outlined at the time they entered the IT Honors Program.
