The Institute of Technology's Office of Diversity and Outreach promotes academic excellence and supports underrepresented students and women earning bachelor's degrees in engineering, physical sciences, and mathematics. Services include: North Star STEM Alliance programs; academic support; information on: undergraduate research, internships, scholarships; and opportunities for leadership, service and outreach to K-12 students.

Summer Bridge 2009 program

The IT Office of Diversity and Outreach is pleased to welcome 20 new freshman to the Summer Bridge 2009 program. While in the program this summer, the students will take a math course, participate in workshops designed to showcase University resources, tour research laboratories, and visit local industries. North Star STEM Alliance

North Star studentsInstitute of Technology's Office of Diversity and Outreach is offering students the opportunity to earn stipends and receive grant money through the North Star STEM Alliance. The mission of the North Star STEM Alliance is to broaden the participation of Minnesota's underrepresented groups in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM). The University of Minnesota is one of the 18 universities, colleges, and organizations that make up the STEM Alliance. Target populations include African American, Hispanic/Latino, and Native American students pursuing baccalaureate degrees in the areas of STEM.
