Canvas: Enable Your Library Course Materials Page

Library Course Materials (LCMs) are dynamically created for all courses at the University of Minnesota-Twin Cities and Rochester campuses. They are designed to allow U of MN students quick and easy access to learning resources tailored to specific courses. Library Course Materials can include journals, e-books, online content licensed through the U of MN Libraries, photocopies, PDFs, MS Word and MS PowerPoint documents, audio/video files, and more.

To use a Library Course Materials page, you can submit your requested material to the University Libraries Course Materials Services, or you can create the reading list yourself. Please visit how to use the Library Course Materials tool for more information. Once a course reading list is created, students will be able to access course materials via the Library Course Materials page on your Canvas course site.

Please note:

  • Some or all of the requested course materials may be copyrighted and require a copyright payment.
  • Library Course Materials pages are automatically enabled for Canvas sites associated with PeopleSoft, i.e., for-credit course sites. If you need a Library Course Materials page for a non-credit Canvas course site, please contact [email protected].

The process of sharing course materials with students via a Library Course Materials includes two steps:

  1. Creating your Library Course Materials page
  2. Enabling the Library Course Materials course navigation menu item
