Five Institute of Technology faculty named McKnight Land-Grant
Professors
Five Institute of Technology faculty are among 10 recipients of
the 2007-09 McKnight Land-Grant Professorship, a program designed
to advance the careers of the University's most promising junior
faculty.
The McKnight Land-Grant Professorship is a two-year appointment
that includes a research grant of approximately $30,000 in each
of the two years, to be used at the recipient's discretion for expenditures
directly related to research and scholarly activities. In addition,
each professor is awarded either a year's leave to pursue research
during the second year of the award or a supplementary research
grant.

Haynes (chemistry) develops analytical tools to study cellular
function and dysfunction. |

Assistant Professor Nihar
Jindal (electrical and computer engineering) researches
information theory and communication theory, particularly as
applied to wireless communication networks. |

Assistant Professor Marta
Lewicka (mathematics) researches partial differential equations
and the propagation of waves in fluid dynamics. |

Assistant Professor William
Schuler (computer science and engineering) incorporates
referential meaning into spoken language interfaces. |
 |
Assistant Professor Chun
Wang (biomedical engineering) researches biologically guided
design and application of biomaterials. |
