Identity: Logging out of Your University Account

If you are logged into an application that uses the University's central Sign In page for authentication (pictured below) and you wish to use an additional application in the same browser, you may be required to authenticate again. If your browser authentication cookie is no longer valid, you will need to re-authenticate.

University of Minnesota sign in page

This is because the University of Minnesota uses "single sign on" (SSO).

Many UMN websites include a link to sign out of your account, such as my-account and MyU.

MyU User Options dropdown with options for Email, Calendar, Google Drive, My Account, and Signout. Signout selected.my-account page logout button selected

Another option is to navigate to https://www.umn.edu/logout This will immediately log you out.

For maximum security protection, you should always close all your browser windows after you sign out of your applications. This is the most reliable way to ensure that you are completely logged out.
